It makes navigating the show floor, scheduling your events, and keeping track of where you’ve been a lot easier (as long as you have a smart phone).

Today, Tuesday, Comcast Corp. and Internet phone service Skype announced they will be offering high-definition video calling through TV sets. The service will allow a family to broadcast a party to remote relatives while it is occurring, for example, or communicate in real-time while watching a sports game. The service will require a simple kit comprising a small adapter box, a high-definition video webcam and a remote control that has traditional buttons on one side and a QWERTY keyboard on the other, and only one of the parties involved needs to be a Comcast customer.

Chicago’s newly appointed mayor, Rahm Emanuel, was the guest speaker today. He estimates that every percentage point in additional broadband access growth translates into 1,500 to 3,000 new jobs as right now in Illinois, the cable industry is responsible for 68,000 jobs and represents a $60 billion of investment. However, everyone is eagerly awaiting Oprah’s interview during Thursday’s general session.

IcueTV, a New Jersey technology company, teams up with Groupon, a Chicago daily deals provider, to show off a new form of interactive television that allows viewers to request more information about an advertiser.
